The Quick Answer
- Follow the instructions below to set up POP access in Entourage 2004.
- Google Apps users, please follow the default instructions unless otherwise noted, replacing 'your_domain.com' with your actual domain name.
- Enable POP in Gmail.
- Open Entourage 2004.
- Click 'Tools,' and select 'Accounts'

- Click 'New.'

(If you receive the 'Account Setup Assistant,' click 'Configure account manually.')
- Select 'POP' next to 'Account type:,' and click 'OK.'

- Enter a name for your new account in the 'Account Name:' field.
- Enter your full name in the 'Your Name:' field.
- Enter your full email address (username@gmail.com) in the 'Email Address:' field. Google Apps users, enter your full address in the format 'username@your_domain.com.'
- Enter your full email address (including '@gmail.com' or '@your_domain.com') in the 'Account ID' field.
- Enter 'pop.gmail.com' in the 'Incoming Mail Server:' field. Google Apps users, enter the server name provided, don't add your domain name in this step.
- Click 'Click here for advanced receiving options' in the 'Receiving mail' section.

- Check the box next to 'This POP service requires a secure connection (SSL).'

- Enter your email password in the 'Your Password:' field.
- Enter 'smtp.gmail.com' in the 'Outgoing Mail Server:' field.
- Click 'Click here for advanced sending options' in the 'Sending mail' section.

- Check the box next to 'SMTP service requires secure connection (SSL).'
- Check the box next to 'Override default SMTP port:,' and enter '587' in the box.
- Check the box next to 'SMTP server requires authentication,' and click 'OK.'

* Did you click 'Save Changes' after enabling POP in Gmail? To ensure that Gmail can communicate with your mail client, be sure to click Save Changes on the Gmail Forwarding and POP/IMAP settings page.
